From Booklist (starred review):
"The characters are appropriately larger than life (but still recognizable as real people), and the author is clearly a talented storyteller who knows how to write scenes that are graphic, frightening, and memorable. Many veteran horror writers will be grinding their teeth in envy. A definite must-read, whether you’ve read Infected or not."
CONTAGIOUS SYNOPSIS:
Across America, a mysterious pathogen transforms ordinary people into raging killers, psychopaths driven by a terrifying, alien agenda. The human race fights back, yet after every battle the disease responds, adapts, using sophisticated strategies and brilliant ruses to fool its pursuers. The only possible explanation: the epidemic is driven not by evolution but by some malevolent intelligence.
Standing against this unimaginable threat is a small group, assembled under the strictest secrecy. Their best weapon is hulking former football star Perry Dawsey, left psychologically shattered by his own struggles with this terrible enemy, who possesses an unexplainable ability to locate the disease’s hosts. Violent and unpredictable, Perry is both the nation’s best hope and a terrifying liability. Hardened CIA veteran Dew Phillips must somehow forge a connection with him if they’re going to stand a chance against this maddeningly adaptable opponent. Alongside them is Margaret Montoya, a brilliant epidemiologist who fights for a cure even as she reels under the weight of endless horrors.
These three and their team have kept humanity in the game, but that’s not good enough anymore, not when the disease turns contagious, triggering a fast countdown to Armageddon. Meanwhile, other enemies join the battle, and a new threat — one that comes from a most unexpected source — may ultimately prove the most dangerous of all.

I first heard of Infected when I saw an ad on Max Brooks' World War Z site. That was early last year, then right before Christmas I saw it in the bookstore and decided to check it out. I read through it twice in four days and wanted more. I then heard the sequel was to be released December 30th, great timing I thought. So I waited and grabbed the sole copy my bookstore got in. I've now read it twice as well and I have to say I want Pandemic!!! The story is so engaging, I'm just so sad at some of the great characters lost though... Keep it up!
Contagious is awesome so far. I think im going to steal my roomates book so I can finish it quick, because as much as I love Scotts great voices, I cant wait months for the end!! And after that I think ill buy my own copies of infected and Contagious because I love Scotts ideas about selling books AND giving them out for free at the same time. Must spread siglerism... infected......

Publication date for the paperback is 25th June 2009 wtf! Why is there such a delay between the UK and USA? I know they are different publishers but a 6 month delay.

My flight home yesterday morning was overbooked, so had to wait 4 hours for the next one. By chance got a copy of Infected at the airport, and finished it late at night yesterday. I'm glad now that my flight was delayed. The people sitting next to me in the plane must have been wondering wtf evil shiat I was reading since it must have appeared that I was going to get sick at any given moment while reading it, only to start chuckling 5 minutes later, and back to cringing/squirming again.
Awesome and can't wait for the sequel to be published in the UK. I might not have the stomach for a film version though...

Just finished reading infected. My tastes usually go from the literary thriller to the tech thriller heavy with science. Ì haven`t read anything in years that hit me like Infected. I`m looking forward to the sequel.
Thanks Scott for many good hours of reading.

i was on the edge of my seat the entire 12 hours it took to read this book it was so good that i could not put it down and onesly i was going to be pissed if there wasnt going to be another book....and im going to have to read every other book this genius wrote, it was the most amazing book ive ever read
keep writing man and i will keep reading the 12 hours it takes to read one of your books
Addicted to "Infected." I cringed at Perrys make-shift surgical extraction of a triangle imbeded into his scrotum. Iactuallycringed while sitting on the edge of my seat...literaly. I'm excited to know a sequel is in the works. For the past year I've been reading zombie novels, and I had mistaken this work for a different novel (about zombies) called "The Infected." I'm glad I made that mistake. I'll never regret it. Good books that hook you and keep you...are rare and few anymore. "Infected" is a literary heroin! [forgive the spelling. Spell check is how I graduated college!]

I just finished Infected last night and it was incredible. It was just enough of reality, future, and "science fiction" mixed together to form a novel that I couldn't put down.
I can't wait to check out Contagious!

We may be greedy bastards, but you are a lazy bastard. If you dont know what will happen in Contagious then I take back what I said, but if you do and have the book started and know whats going to happen, then my friend you are the douchebaggiest author who doesn't tell his junkies what the book is about.

mr. sigler,
My salutations to your wife.
i'm sure you receive many slavering comments as to your assured godliness, etc etc and i have no need to repeat THAT rhetoric....
i'll have to make up some rhetoric of my own that means exactly the same thing-
Infected rumsquattled my brain and left a brick sized hole in my ability to imitate human speech for hours while I contemplated.
finding authors like you is the reason I scour bookstores, the internet, used stores and garage sales. For a few precious hours out of this world and into yours.
I thank you so sincerely.
I just bought Infected and finished it about three hours ago. Holy crap it is without a doubt the best book I have read in years!!!!! Hey Scott I am convinced you are a god, so pass me a cup of Kool-ade and hurry up on the Infected sequel!!!

It says that we need to wait until Infected is in stores. Well it is in stores and no information. Oh and by the way are all the future sequels like Starter, Contagious, Descendant, Pandemic, Mt. Fitzroy, ect. going to be in podcast form? They better be or us Junkies will rebel. You will cause us to go broke and then we will have know idea how to listen to your sweet sweet stories. Please put them in podcast form first. PLEASE.
